The Bay’s best restaurants and cafés will be named at Mills Reef Winery on Sunday, 5th November 2017. UNO. is sponsoring Outstanding Café category. Meet the finalists!

With 80,000 people employed at 12,000 restaurants across New Zealand, there are so many outstanding talents to be crowned. So the Restaurant Association of New Zealand stepped up, bringing us the annual Bay Hospitality Awards.

Cafés, restaurants, chefs and baristas from Tauranga, Mount Maunganui, Papamoa, Waihi Beach, Whakatane, Omokoroa, Te Puke and Katikati will be honoured during the awards night at Mills Reef Winery on Sunday, 5th November.

This year’s 15 categories include Outstanding Bartender, Outstanding Street food takeout, Emerging Talent Kitchen and Outstanding Design/Ambiance.

UNO. is sponsoring the Outstanding Café category. We LOVE good cafés, where the barista knows us by name (and a weakness for ginger slices). The 2017 three finalists certainly fit that criteria!

Heath St has taken The Mount by storm with their airy and fresh interior, beetroot cured salmon and, THOSE vanilla pancakes. They are up against Love Rosie, heavyweight player of the hospitality industry in Tauranga, famous for their cute dino toys instead of order numbers and amazingly creative cabinet treats. The third finalist is The General – spacious place at The Mount with an impressive menu, that includes poached eggs with hollandaise on sourdough and healthy quinoa bowls.
